COVID-19 Walking-Day 2

Image
Day 2 of our walking started a bit more organised because I understood the exercise app on my phone better. We left at 6:14 am and I noticed that we didn't have our masks on so we went back to fetch them and started over.  As you can see from the photo above (lower left) it was earlier and darker. Slight puffs of pink streaky clouds decorated the blue sky. It was another glorious morning and the birds cheered us on. Because it was earlier than yesterday we didn't expect to see the same people along the way. However, there are certain spots where our course was going to intersect with others and it did. You can see that today I secretly photographed them as they passed us and greeted us. I made their photos small so that it's impossible to make out who they are. These photos above are of myself and Maggie walking on the road that passes by the school in our neighbourhood. You can see the beautiful trees that form a canopy over the road going into the dis

Choose Maret Pro Lab For Photographs

Image
Last year I was commissioned by Maret Pro Lab to take photographs of a school concert. I immediately agreed since they were my client and needed assistance. I must say that I was a bit nervous because their photography is of an exceptionally high standard and I didn't want to disappoint them. Well, the evening came and I pitched up at the venue rather early to reconnoitre the place and take a few test shots to get my camera ready. Once things start happening there's no time to fiddle with camera settings. It was quite a difficult assignment because I had to take as many photographs of the kids as I could during each session but the parents preferred individual shots of their children. The lady in charge had rented a huge backdrop and the kids were outstanding in their performances with the most colourful costumes I've seen in a long time. It was the most professional performance for children so young. Once everything started I had a small window of opportunity

Congratulations Maret Pro Lab

Congratulations Maret Pro Lab on your new website in 2018.  Also for creating memories for your thousands of clients through the high quality of your photography and printing. All the school photographs that you took and printed for the parents took a lot of work. What I have seen of your work is of a very high standard and I'm sure your clients were very satisfied. You also printed a photograph on canvas and stretch-framed it for me and my client was impressed with the results. May you have a blessed Christmas and a prosperous 2019. Keep up the good work. A Beautiful Spider Lily - Updated

Image
Life is constantly changing with challenges and decisions every single day. Time is a good teacher because what was very good last year can change to something totally opposite this year. That is very true when it comes to certain people. You think you know them. But you only know the false side they are so good at bringing to the fore. What they allow you to see. Deep down inside lies something they have become good at hiding - something the opposite to their day to day character - ugliness. On the other hand the majestic white spider lily flower above is genuine. No hidden dangers. It's pure. It is exactly as beautiful as it is. Nothing false about it. Maybe that's why good women love flowers. When you give them with a good heart they tell a story of honesty. Flowers are pure and beautiful. So you are giving something pure and beautiful - a perfect gift. This spider lily flower was photographed with my Canon camera using a 50 mm lens on today the 11th of February

Human Rights Day 2017

Image
Here is a "reality show" look at the start of my Human Rights Day on 21 March 2017. No, I'm not attending some mass rally. It's far too crowded and I love to do my own thing and relax when I get the chance. I woke up at 4 a.m. and made myself a cup of hot tea and settled into my lazy boy chair to read my new ESV bible. The passage I read was about the martyr Stephen who was stoned for speaking his mind. The amazing thing was that he gazed into heaven and saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God. What an experience that must have been. All I can say about that is that there certainly has to be another dimension that we are not always aware of and don't see. When I started this blog I decided to name it New Dimensions because of the many subjects I would be writing about. New dimensions also refer to many new experiences I would be having and write about. So far I've reported on things like wanting to scuba dive and then being invited to a scuba divin

Cycle Competition 2015

Image
Three years after our last   Southern Skies 24 Hour Race in Parys and another invitation to compete this year again. If we enter, what lies ahead for us? Are we still up to the challenge? At this moment I don't know who will be in our team, but this is a picture of our members in 2012. My wife and I are on the far left and my son-in-law and daughter are on the far right.  In terms of preparation my wife, Maggie, and I would have to start practising daily to get ourselves back into shape again. We also need to have our mountain bikes serviced. Besides that we also need to make sure that our camping gear and equipment are all ready. We would have to get some powerful LED lights for riding at night. Maybe I should consider taking a voice recorder along so that I don't miss out on recording events as they are happening - better for blogging about our experiences afterwards. Keeping a record of experiences like these are great for when I'm older and don't feel like

Will This Happen In 2015 - For Me?

Image
What does 2015 have in store for us? I would like to think that it's going to be far better than 2014. For one thing I know more than what I did last year. Believe it or not last year was a great year, but I feel on the seat of my pants that this year will be a cracker. All I have to do is make the most of opportunities that come my way. As it is I'm practically sitting on a huge opportunity, but can I pull it off? Now the question is, what would I do if I made a million with this opportunity? Yes, it could happen. And yes, maybe it won't. But, looking on the positive side, if it does happen, what would I do with the proceeds? Here's my wish-list. A BMW 1200 RT. I had one before and had the thrill of my life riding it. The newer model from has a much lower centre of gravity for better handling and loads of power. Yes, I like riding motorcycles because I not only feel at one with the machine (almost like riding a race horse), but I also feel at home in nature - i
