Dedicated to Women - Art

Image
When time began the man was alone without a companion, so he was put into a deep sleep and a rib was removed from his chest. It was used to create her. When the man woke up and saw her, he fell head over heals in love with her. She was spectacularly beautiful. Together they formed a bond, and, in the evenings, they fellowshipped with their Creator. They could speak to animals which listened and obeyed them. They had that kind of power and dominion with words, just like the Creator. One day, Havah (Eve) met a serpent who deceived her with crafty words and she and the man disobeyed the Creator. As a consequence, they had to leave their abode called Eden. Years later, the Creator appeared to Abraham and told him he was going to have a son in his old age. His wife, Sarah laughed when she eavesdropped on the conversation. She endured many years of being childless and had become old. Consequently, the boy was called laughter (Isaac). Much later, the Creator’s people were about to enter

The Most Important Thing I Learned in America

Image
I once worked for a company called Frasers Ltd in Johannesburg. My director nominated me for an educational trip to the USA. That was back in the 1980’s. I was surprised to have received such an honour because it was company policy to send staff on those tours after long service. I had only been working for Frasers for just over a year. We were a group of people from different companies taking the guided tour and departed from Jan Smuts International Airport in Kempton Park for the long flight across the Atlantic to Madeira where our jet refuelled. From there it was still a quite a distance to La Guardia Airport in New York. Whilst on the flight I wondered what lay in store for me since I had never travelled so far from South Africa. America was huge compared to my small country but in those days our currency exchange rate was almost 1:1. I knew that technologically they were far ahead of my country and that it would be a big adjustment in terms of size as well. The tour operat

Good As Gold – Refined by Fire

Image
Pure gold is only produced by intense heat. I won’t go into the process that is involved because you can look it up on Google. It’s not the intention of this article. Suffice for you to know that extreme heat and refining produces the most precious metal. This process is often likened to what Christians endure in the process called sanctification where their faith is tested over and over, and they become purer in the process – like gold. This all seems unfair because if you love God or Jesus then that is what you feel and do and believe. Well, it doesn’t work like that. Often, we get targeted just for being a Christian. All we have to know is that we can trust that, ultimately, good will come out of it and we will be rewarded if we endure. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, The Father of compassion, and, The God of all comfort Who comforts us in all our troubles So that we can comfort those in any trouble… 2 Cor 1:3-4. There you have it. Just know

The Safest Place

Image
When change comes suddenly and unexpectedly we get caught off guard and it is easy to lose hope and your joy. Fortunately I am not alone nor abandoned. As long as I keep my eyes on the right thing, there is hope and the source of everything I need. In Psalm 36 it says that I have unfailing love in my God. I can search out his promises and put my faith into action on his word. I have been in this position before and can testify to the fact that he has never failed me. My safety is in him and under the shadow of his wings I will remain because he has promised to take care of me and that he will never leave me nor forsake me. His spirit is my comforter and helper. He is my source and inspiration - always no matter what. Because of this, I am in the safest place.

The Answer to Trouble

Image
Friday 6 October 2023 Last night I decided to paint a newer version of my first picture for this post - just for the fun of it because I wanted to update this post. The idea of using a house for this post is an apt one because in the New Testament Jesus (the Good Shepherd) said if you build your house on the rock (a proper foundation which is His Word) then, when adversity comes, your house will withstand all the storms of life and trouble. As a believer there are other things we can do. In Ephesians we are encouraged to put on the whole armour of God and in Proverbs we are told to guard our hearts because all the issues of life come from there. We can also speak the Word of God over circumstances and use our trust and faith in God to change circumstances. Lastly, we are encouraged in the book of James to exercise patience during the storms. So, the storms aren't gone yet and we are doing our part while we stand in faith for circumstances to improve. This is not the first time thes

South African Wildlife

Image
I had to wait for the opportunity to arrive to do the presentation of the wildlife animals for you. The photo above is of a warthog and her babies. we walked just a few feet by them and she didn't do anything to us. that is quite unusual behaviour for wild animals but it shows what is possible in South Africa if you know where to go. There are more photographs and I will be adding to my collection in November this year. Yes, next month. Eland, Sable Antelope, Buffalo, Zebra, and Rhino are all popular wild animals to be found in special reserves in South Africa where they are protected and can be enjoyed in their natural habitat. These are pristine examples of wildlife here in Africa. There is a place where you can view them just as they live in nature in a most unusual place. As you can see from my leading image, I photographed visitors taking pictures with their mobile phones from a high vantage point at a special place that I visited. There is a very high and safe fence separat
