Good As Gold – Refined by Fire

Image
Pure gold is only produced by intense heat. I won’t go into the process that is involved because you can look it up on Google. It’s not the intention of this article. Suffice for you to know that extreme heat and refining produces the most precious metal. This process is often likened to what Christians endure in the process called sanctification where their faith is tested over and over, and they become purer in the process – like gold. This all seems unfair because if you love God or Jesus then that is what you feel and do and believe. Well, it doesn’t work like that. Often, we get targeted just for being a Christian. All we have to know is that we can trust that, ultimately, good will come out of it and we will be rewarded if we endure. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, The Father of compassion, and, The God of all comfort Who comforts us in all our troubles So that we can comfort those in any trouble… 2 Cor 1:3-4. There you have it. Just know

The Safest Place

Image
When change comes suddenly and unexpectedly we get caught off guard and it is easy to lose hope and your joy. Fortunately I am not alone nor abandoned. As long as I keep my eyes on the right thing, there is hope and the source of everything I need. In Psalm 36 it says that I have unfailing love in my God. I can search out his promises and put my faith into action on his word. I have been in this position before and can testify to the fact that he has never failed me. My safety is in him and under the shadow of his wings I will remain because he has promised to take care of me and that he will never leave me nor forsake me. His spirit is my comforter and helper. He is my source and inspiration - always no matter what. Because of this, I am in the safest place.

The Answer to Trouble

Image
Friday 6 October 2023 Last night I decided to paint a newer version of my first picture for this post - just for the fun of it because I wanted to update this post. The idea of using a house for this post is an apt one because in the New Testament Jesus (the Good Shepherd) said if you build your house on the rock (a proper foundation which is His Word) then, when adversity comes, your house will withstand all the storms of life and trouble. As a believer there are other things we can do. In Ephesians we are encouraged to put on the whole armour of God and in Proverbs we are told to guard our hearts because all the issues of life come from there. We can also speak the Word of God over circumstances and use our trust and faith in God to change circumstances. Lastly, we are encouraged in the book of James to exercise patience during the storms. So, the storms aren't gone yet and we are doing our part while we stand in faith for circumstances to improve. This is not the first time thes

South African Wildlife

Image
I had to wait for the opportunity to arrive to do the presentation of the wildlife animals for you. The photo above is of a warthog and her babies. we walked just a few feet by them and she didn't do anything to us. that is quite unusual behaviour for wild animals but it shows what is possible in South Africa if you know where to go. There are more photographs and I will be adding to my collection in November this year. Yes, next month. Eland, Sable Antelope, Buffalo, Zebra, and Rhino are all popular wild animals to be found in special reserves in South Africa where they are protected and can be enjoyed in their natural habitat. These are pristine examples of wildlife here in Africa. There is a place where you can view them just as they live in nature in a most unusual place. As you can see from my leading image, I photographed visitors taking pictures with their mobile phones from a high vantage point at a special place that I visited. There is a very high and safe fence separat

When it comes to cross border transport it is important to choose the right company. I have been privileged to get to know someone that fits the bill perfectly. She hails from Zimbabwe and knows the country and the people there very well. Besides that, she first operated her transport company from Harare in Zimbabwe before relocating to South Africa from where she now operates. In the process of operating in both environments she has gained invaluable knowledge in terms of the fleet required, the coordination challenges between the two countries, border regulations and actual on the spot experience required for that. There is a whole lot more involved, but I am sure you get the picture. If something could challenge your operation transporting goods between Johannesburg and Harare or other cities in Zim, then she has overcome those obstacles successfully. Then, the lady herself is as motivated and determined as they come. With nerves of steel and real commitment, dedication, and determi

How I Started Watercolour Painting

Image
This is an update. The picture above is one of my favourites because it is colourful and tells a story. Sometimes I get a sudden surge of inspiration and produce something I really like. I was still very new to watercolour painting and still managed to produce a nice piece of art.  On a recent trip to the Cape I met a lady who owns a gallery in Worcester, Western Cape called Worcester Gallery. She was a real inspiration and gave me her full attention as we discussed watercolour art. She liked the images of my paintings which I showed her on my mobile phone and encouraged me to keep on painting and send some of my artwork to her. When someone you don't know gives you that sort of encouragement, then you really feel more motivated and appreciated. Her advice was that I should pick a theme and master it, which was buildings. Hence my latest effort is in the picture above. I would like her to know that I really appreciate her kind words. I met with two other ladies after that who also
