About My Blog Called New Dimensions

Image
About My Blog Called New Dimensions I kicked off my first Blogger post on 25 February 2013 with " Is your switchgear getting old? " This was, of course, not my first blog post ever and it was very short, but it was a start. One of my first blog posts was on a platform called Typepad . I don't know why I fancied Typepad at the time. I wrote about ideas being seeds . “Ideas are like seeds that soar across the highways of time seeking the right landing place - they enter by way of silence and have the ability to change your life. Gently they alight on receptive minds and spread their influence in fertile soil. The right attitude causes them to bloom resulting in an aha moment. Combined with imagination infinite possibilities result. Constant meditation adds nourishment to the process causing expansion and assimilation. There are huge benefits to the seeking soul which attracts great ideas like a magnet. If, however, these precious seeds are neglected, they soon take flight...

Lesotho Trip Book Extract

Image
Extract from my book on our Lesotho trip. When I think about how we were able to go from village to village, community to community to minister and always meet up with a lot of people, then I now realize that Seth must have notified everyone in advance of our plans (his plans). No telephones or cell phones around those days so he must have journeyed all over the place in advance to organize everything. That was a masterpiece all on its own those days. The places we ministered at were spread out all over the countryside and involved a lot of hiking across rough terrain. Seth did it all so that us city folks could just pitch up and minister without a hitch. Our first ministry our was around the vicinity of our base camp which was quite hilly - up and down the mountain side - looking for shepherd boys and locals to minister to. Our leader, Pastor Mark carried a loud hailer. He would speak into it and his voice was carried great distances to people on the hills. Then we would walk or...

How we ended up at Frasers

Image
On 1 December 1973 I married the love of my life, Maggie. We decided to go away for the weekend and came home afterwards to discover that my mother had suffered a stroke. My first son made his appearance the following year – we called him Mark. After that we moved to Cape Town where my second son, Michael was born. I thought Cape Town was going to be a fantastic place to live and work in but after two years we moved back to Johannesburg. Fortunately, a company that supplied coal crushing machines and conveyor belts to the mines employed me and I was rewarded with a salary increase, back pay and a December bonus that year. I bought a white Ford Cortina because we needed a car. Life seemed very good but in January the following year my supervisor walked into my office and casually told me that I was being retrenched. I had two months to find another job and leave. I recently Googled my old company and discovered that they had been taken over by a bigger UK-based company. I was just consi...

I Had a Dream

Image
Last Night I had a Dream The Good Bible says that in the last days old men will dream dreams. Just mentioning that to sketch a better picture about the subject of dreams I recall a dream that Jacob had. “And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. And behold, the LORD stood beside him, and said: 'I am the LORD, the God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac.” Wikipedia . “Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it." His brothers said to him, "Do you intend to reign over us?” Bible Gateway . “Soon after the visit by the Magi, an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream telling him to flee to Egypt with Mary and the infant Jesus since King Herod would seek the c...

The Storm

Image
“And the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” Matthew 7:27. We focus on the natural a lot of the time and wonder why these storms are wreaking havoc in our lives. We long for the peace that we experienced for a moment. A while ago I wrote about a storm: I woke up to a fight of heavyweights sparring in a ring above us in the heavens. Each thundering messages and challenging the other to a brutal fight for the championship, a real ruckus as I was disturbed from my sleep at 3 a.m. in the morning. That was in October 5 years ago . Just last week we had another one of those storms. My first reaction was to pray. I said to my wife,” Why do we always get these noisy, violent storms on the Highveld where we live?” I’m not particularly fond of storms, but they come whether I like it or not. In the mornings I usually spend some quiet time before the hustle and bustle of the day starts. It’s like an anchor to my ...
