This doesn't look like a morning walk. That's because Maggie wanted to finish the masks for our son, Michael, and his family in Pietermaritzburg. I also asked her to make some for another family.

Then, it was time for my special coffee that I make by boiling the milk in the microwave. Then I use a special attachment to whisk up the milk to foam. This is poured onto the top of the coffee once it's done. The result is a creamy cup of the finest coffee and a delightful drink. We usually have one of those in the mornings.

Yesterday we prepared a piece of ground in the corner of our yard to plant carrots and beans. Of course our dog had to go and walk all over our garden patch. No ears! We haven't given up walking. Just took a break for some important things. Thanks for reading.

How I Started Watercolour Painting

This is an update. The picture above is one of my favourites because it is colourful and tells a story. Sometimes I get a sudden surge of inspiration and produce something I really like. I was still very new to watercolour painting and still managed to produce a nice piece of art.  On a recent trip to the Cape I met a lady who owns a gallery in Worcester, Western Cape called Worcester Gallery. She was a real inspiration and gave me her full attention as we discussed watercolour art. I Painted a Horse

Who can resist a beautiful picture of a horse? These elegant animals are majestic and have served mankind for centuries. Many stories have been written about them. They have featured in movies, used to transport stagecoaches across America, transported cavalry across borders into battle. They have ploughed fields, been used to pull chariots for ancient Greeks and Romans. Horses have been raced to enrich people financially. They have been entered into show jumping events. The list goes on. Horses have also roamed the prairies in the wild and that is one way to remember them well. When a picture comes across one’s path that looks so beautiful, we stop and admire it. In my case I decided to paint this one – my very first painting of an animal in watercolours. The Answer to Trouble

Friday 6 October 2023 Last night I decided to paint a newer version of my first picture for this post - just for the fun of it because I wanted to update this post. The idea of using a house for this post is an apt one because in the New Testament Jesus (the Good Shepherd) said if you build your house on the rock (a proper foundation which is His Word) then, when adversity comes, your house will withstand all the storms of life and trouble. As a believer there are other things we can do. In Ephesians we are encouraged to put on the whole armour of God and in Proverbs we are told to guard our hearts because all the issues of life come from there. We can also speak the Word of God over circumstances and use our trust and faith in God to change circumstances. Lastly, we are encouraged in the book of James to exercise patience during the storms.
